Passed the exam, received your SBF license, but you still feel unsure and want to gain more practical experience? Or haven't been on the water in a long time and want to refresh your skills? Are you looking to prepare for a holiday cruise or for your own new boat, which nobody wants to scratch right away?

No problem, many recreational boaters feel the same way. Here you can refresh forgotten skills on an hourly basis or practice difficult situations in a controlled environment, situations that aren't tested in the SBF (German Sport Boat License). These include anchoring, mooring under different wind conditions and at various docks, harbor training, and safe docking in berths. Towing other boats and lock training are also offered – there are many different options.

Skipper training is available on your own boat or on our training and sharing fleet! We offer a motorboat, small keelboats up to 6m with outboard motors, or a small sailing yacht up to 7.5m, weighing 2.3t with a diesel inboard engine. You are welcome to gain experience with all types of boats in our fleet.

A 9m yacht with wheel steering is also available for an additional fee, for example to practice docking as in the Mediterranean. (Price for 3 hours = €250)

Your teacher has been driving a motorboat for almost 19 years and sailing for 24. He has worked for various schools and boat rental companies, handling all kinds of boats. He has also frequently helped new boat owners with their first test drives.

Skipper training sailing

Individual skipper training tailored to your needs. A wide variety of exercises are possible, such as:

• Better Sailing: Sail efficiently and quickly from A to B. Refresh your sailing skills. Correct minor and major mistakes such as incorrect sail trim, proper upwind sailing, avoiding accidental jibes, etc.
• Introduction to cruising: Sail from Alt-Pichelsdorf to Wannsee, using a nautical chart to avoid hazards such as shallows, and navigate by buoyage. Basics of trip planning, etc.
• Introduction to regatta sailing: What to pay attention to, the Yardstick system. Regatta starts, making faster progress on certain courses, taking the shortest route, using areas with more wind, applying right-of-way rules, etc.
• Sailing in strong winds: How to behave in strong winds, what precautions should be taken? Reefing sails, trimming sails and the boat in strong and light winds. Beaufort wind scale, marine weather forecast, etc. (These exercises are not always possible, especially in July and August. It depends on the weather conditions.)
• Repetition of the man overboard maneuver, which also forms the basis for many other maneuvers. These include approaching a mooring buoy or docking under sail alongside a jetty (the latter not always possible, depending on the wind direction).
• For former dinghy sailors who want to get used to larger boats. Sailing a 6m keelboat with an outboard motor or a 7.5m yacht with a rigid shaft and diesel inboard engine.
• Park the sailing yacht under power in various slips in the harbor. Moor at different docks. Practice with both onshore and offshore winds (the latter requires several sessions and suitable weather conditions). Use fenders and lines. Many sailors are quite bad at mooring under power, which is very important for larger boats.
• Mooring with the stern to the jetty (called Roman Catholic).
• Anchor

Lessons on your own boat would also be possible, preferably in the Berlin and Brandenburg area.

Skipper training sailing

One session usually lasts about 2-3 hours! Individual lessons = €40 per hour; 2 people = €30 per person per hour; 3 people = €25 per person per hour

Basic requirement: A sailing session usually lasts 3 hours, at least 2 hours. Every sailor knows that sailing includes preparing the boat, setting the sails, and furling them. Therefore, sessions under 2 hours are not worthwhile! Turning the key and setting off immediately is for motorboats.

Discounts are available for groups and sailors who wish to complete a longer number of skipper training courses together. Please contact us.

Individual skipper training tailored to your needs. Many motorboat operators are too infrequent on the water or lacked sufficient practical experience during their SBF (German boating license) course. A variety of exercises are possible on our motorboat, such as:

• Docking and undocking from various docks. Depending on the weather, practice may also be possible with onshore/offshore winds. Steaming into the spring line. Use of fenders and lines.
• Parking in berths/slips at the dock. Forward and aft. Stop to align the boat. How do I properly secure my boat in a berth?
• Keep the boat in position relative to other objects, such as fairway buoys or anchor buoys.
• Repeating the man overboard maneuver
• Introduction to the use of motorboats with other water sports participants. Perfect for accompanying and rescuing athletes in rowing clubs, windsurfers, kitesurfers, sailors, and swimmers. This is not covered in the German Sport Boat License (SBF) courses. In English-speaking countries, it's referred to as a safety boat. For clubs or rental companies that provide the necessary boats/equipment.
• Anchor.
• Towing other boats. Various techniques.
• Displacement mode and planing mode.
• Park a sailing yacht with a rigid shaft under power in various slips in the harbor. Moor at different docks. Practice with both onshore and offshore winds (the latter requires several sessions and suitable weather conditions). Use fenders and lines. Many sailors are quite bad at mooring under power, which is very important for larger boats.

Training is also possible on your own boat. Either at our dock or in the Berlin and Brandenburg area (motorboat hour = €50 on your own boat).
